Is it normal that i think my straight friend might like me?

I just turned eighteen, and my friend "J" just turned twenty-three. We've known each other for maybe three years? and we play minecraft, l4d series, and all kinds of other games with each other and chat over skype. We ~usually~ have a really good time, until he starts flirting with me. I'm gay, and he knows that, and he's told me countless times he's straight, so I'm really confused. Just last night, J asked me if I ever had any romantic feelings toward him and when I told him that was a little awkward to answer, he kept pushing and kept subtly bringing it up during our game of minecraft.

He calls me cute ALL THE TIME. He "awwws" when I sneeze and get excited or spooked. Then he proceeds to tell me how cute he thinks it is when I freak out over things.

There was a time where an anime convention was going on where he lives, and when I told him I couldn't go he offered to share the hotel room with him. In the same bed. Usually? I would brush this all off as two guy friends joking around, but he's serious. Is this normal?

He's got a girlfriend.

Sounds to me like your "friend" is either so not straight or he is a sumbitch that is toying with your feelings only to destroy you when you finally make a move.

Whatever the case may be i hope it all works out for you.

I agree, he's being a passive aggressive asshole, either that or he's trying not to discriminate and does not know how to treat you and is being extra sensitive. I don't think that helped lol. All I did was rephrase it lol. I understand your confusion. I'm dealing with the same sort of thing but with a guy who acts gay to some people on skype and has a girlfriend and who claims he thinks I'm gay though I'm not. It seems like hes just trying to get a reaction and be a passive agressive bully at the same time it seems like he's actually in the closet and has a crush on me and wants me to be gay with him. I stopped talking and gaming with them, the confusion on wtf was going on made it a toxic relationship.

J is usually very nice to me, though! He's also usually incredibly honest. I'm sure sure why he'd have a reason to be an asshole to me.

Then it sounds like he's curious and wants to experiment with you, that or this is all just his way of accepting you as your are. I guess you really just have to ask him why he says and does the things and tell him it seems like he's flirting.

    Simple.

He wants to put his cock in your ass.

    That is all.

He might be sexually curious - you offer something he hasn't experienced before and since he knows you're gay you are a realistic prospect or at least a friend he can sort of play around with, test the waters.

That doesn't mean he isn't in love with or sexually dedicated to his girlfriend, just that there could be some part of him that would like to experiment, and flirting/teasing under the safe umbrella of friendship is the most comfortable way.

I think he knows that because of some things that happened to me in my past, I'm not willing to fool around in any way, shape, or form.

Its possible your friend doesn't know WHAT he wants. Were you the one who introduced him to homosexuality? It seems to me he's acting like its some novel concept he doesn't really understand. Or he's truly confused/attracted to you. Or he's being a jerk. Why not ask him straight up - is he serious?

I agree with all of that

I don't think I was the one who introduced him to it, since he had been friends with gays before me.

And I'm scared to. I don't want him to think I'm into him, because wow I'm not.

I'll give you the same advice I'd give anyone - just be completely honest, with him and yourself. If it makes you uncomfortable, speak up! Your friends you respect you enough to not be offended over it.

I've thought about it, but he's been with his girl forever. He was desperate to get with her. I'm just really confused because he's obviously flirting with me.

      It's really awkward.
