Is it normal that i think in english?

Okay, this will probably seem normal to you guys but my first language is spanish and I think in English.
Is that weird?
Sometimes I catch myself thinking in English, so I try to revert back to spanish, but I guess my spanish vocabulary has become really limited, because I end up going back to English again. It's frustrating. I also cuss in French (in my head) unconsciously

My husbands first language was Spanish and he admits to thinking in English sometimes. My fist language was English and I catch myself thinking in Spanish sometimes. It's normal. I even curse in my head in German occasionally.

Ok, off the bat I only speak English.

But a lot of times after I've been reading a good book I will start narrating in my head what I'm doing. Like an author narrates what the characters are doing.

So I think it's totally normal. Though after writing this i'm considering asking my own question lol

It's not normal to hear a voice in your head that is speaking a language. I thought doesn't come in a language. When you see a beautiful girl, in your head your not 'wow, she's hot' it's just a feeling that you get. Hard to explain.

I think in words simultaniousely to a feeling about things. And sometimes the words are far clearer than the feelings...

LOL. your comment made me laugh. :p Maybe the fact that I hear a "voice" in my head actually makes me even stranger.
I get a feeling as well, but I still hear my thoughts.
      oh crap.
      Maybe I'm a Schizophrenic. :O

I do the same thing in reverse. English is my first language and Spanish is my second and sometimes I think in Spanish.

first of all, if you were unconscious, then you wouldnt't know whether you were cursing in French or Swahili for that matter. Whatever language you actively use the most is more than likely what you are going to be "thinking" in. But if you really want to be nit picky... i don't think anyone "thinks" in any language, but rather in electrical pulses. But i guess. yes, normal.

Hmmm... I am pretty sure it is normal if you are around a lot of english-speaking people and media in English.
I have been in New Zealand for osme months by now and quite often catch myself thinking in English instead of German...

My first language isn't English (neither is it a second language in my country or anything) but I sometimes think about things in English. But that's more intentional than accidental.

My first language is English but most of the time, I think in French.. maybe it's because you spend most of your time with people who speak English

  • My first language is English but I often think in Spanish, I just look on it as a way of improving my competence with the language.

I know people who learned English as a second language, and they all said that they think in English after living in the States for a while.

English is my first language, but I like collecting words and phrases from others. I prefer a mixture of Spanish, French, and German curse words.
