Is it normal That I feel I deserve better friends? I'm a genuinely fun and nice guy, and I would consider myself very mature. I feel like they don't treat me as an equal because they feel I'm too mature. They always joke about the tiniest, dumbest stuff, and I don't even find them funny- whereas I can make them laugh really hard. I feel they're really self conscious around me and that they feel they have to prove themselves in front of me. Lately, they've started excluding me from what they do. I think they're doing this because they don't feel as comfortable around me as they do around each other. Is this normal?

    Strength of character is shown in how you treat those who can do nothing for you.

    But it's easy to see how your situation could become annoying after a while.

    I have to say, though; reading your post makes me feel a little self-conscious. I wonder if any of the friends I've had, who are exceedingly more clever than I, have thought of me as being so minuscule and pathetic. I hope not. :S

    Is it possible they are not distancing themselves from you for the reason you believe they are? You could be self-handicapping; creating the very situation with them you would like to avoid.

    Maybe you do deserve different friends, and so do they.

    It sounds as though you don't like your friends very much. You had a lot of great things to say about yourself and nothing kind at all to say about them. If you think you're so much better than they are, then yes, I guess you do need new friends.

    If your friends were writing this instead of you and talking about the one friend they have who seems to think they exist for his entertainment and constantly need to prove themselves to him, I'd also recommend to them that they get new friends.

    Perhaps you should think on that a bit.

    I think you do need to find new friends, they just laugh about things that they find funny even if't stupid that's funny to them you just need people who you see to be in your level.
