Is it normal that i talk to myself

but not just talking to myself, talking to myself in a loud enough voice for other people in the house to hear, also at the time i do not know i am talking to myself and i have no memory of doing so. I only know i do this because my family is starting to get pissed cause i guess im almost yelling. im really worried about my mental health this has now happened three times..

I talk to myself too, usually it's in my head. On a few occasions, I have found myself having conversations aloud or just repeating something over and over... Thankfully, I usually talk low so I'm yet to be caught. If you're concerned about your mental health ask a therapist.

I think if you know you're doing it then it's not a problem. If you didn't recognize that's probably a different story. You're most likely mentally fine. Don't worry though, we are ALL a little crazy in some way or another and I even think "mentally ill" people are just labeled that way because they are out of the ordinary and unless they are harming anyone or theirselves, they are fine and just living differently. It's okay to have different mental processes than what society views as normal. So long as you are expressing yourself and are happy, then why does it matter if you wanna think pillows are gods. Your perception is your reality. Society's view is not everyone's reality and really I think trying to make it that way is what drives people to "insanity" :)

It's not normal . But i thnk the reason why you talk to yourself maybe is because you dont manifest to the other people and unconsciously feel the need . So try to talk more to with your family , friends (not dog) .

thanks for sharing! thats very helpful, but what really worries me is that i dont know that im am doing this(talking loudly to myself)and have no memory of it. you made a very good point saying that thinking is talking to yourself does this mean that maybe im just thinking out loud with out knowing it?

Technically speaking, thinking is talking to yourself. The volume of your voice is irrelevant. Unless, of course, you talk to yourself as another person, and argue with it, then that's bad.

I also talk to myself loud enough for other people to hear it, but I only do it when I'm sure no one is around. Sometimes, I subconsciously do it around other people, but it's never louder than a mumble. I might get "What are you mumbling about?", but I just say "nothing."
