Is it normal that i suck at compliments?

So I really suck at compliments. I can't give them sincerely. I also can't resive them happily. I know that I have too high of expectations but I just can't help it. Like when my friend asks me if I like her shirt I try my best to not be super awkward while saying yeah it's cute. Also when I would like to complement someone I just can't for some reason or it comes out really weird. So if I really like someone's shoes I won't say anything and I hate that. I really don't know how to receive compliments and it annoys the shit out of me. So help out, is it normal?

Don't be rude or an asshole, but, do be honest. Find a better way to say, no, I don't like (whatever), and maybe suggest something else or that you've done.

Whatever you do, don't make a compliment sound like a hidden dig. I have a long-time friend like that. He may say he likes or is into something that you are, but, frames it in such a way that it's actually insulting. Slams anything he doesn't understand. Don't be that person.

If their shirt is gay you should tell them it's gay, mean what you say and say what you mean.
In this case your lack of desire to compliment her shirt seems to say you think it's gay but you think you have to compliment her anyway.

Just be sincere. Give small sincere compliments, and if someone compliments you, just say thanks or your welcome. Pretty easy really.

Could practice with someone. Or write down things you want to say and practice speaking it.
