Is it normal that i stole something while blackout drunk?

I have been a relatively heavy drinker for a couple years. I cut back 2 months ago because the doctor told me my liver enzymes were up a bit, but last Friday, I had a lot to drink. I went to karaoke already drunk with a few friends, and I know I was there for 3 hours, but I don't remember the last hour or so.

Apparently, according to a friend who works at the establishment, a girl's shoulder bag went missing and was found in the men's bath room wet and missing 20.00$. They watched the video the next day, and saw me take it into the bathroom. The weird thing is, it also shows me later when it was found, and I was hugging her and gave her money.

I honestly don't remember any of it, but the tape doesn't lie. Why would I have given her money if I had taken it before? Why would I have taken her bag in the first place? Why would I have wet her stuff? I didn't even know this girl. Has anyone else experienced anything like this?

I did it once. I walked out of a bar and smashed the window of an art gallery (punched with hoodie over my hand) and pulled a piece of art out and walked home with it and passed out. Kinda freaked out when I woke up; destroyed this piece of art just in cause the cops came knocking. Dropped that shit off in a neighbors dumpster and pretended like it never happened. I felt terrible for taking the art and breaking a window of a local business. This could of been some serious shit. Oh well, it was more than a decade ago anyway. I should of kept the piece or stashed it someplace. That's my main regret, all that felonious behavior for nothing but a crap story of vandalism and brazen theft.
I had thrown a chair across the whole bar prior to the the above act...long night drinking and snorting gator tails of pure cocaine.

Why ask why of a drunk? Don't you know that, after a couple years as a heavy drinker? You are a drunk; nothing you do makes any sense.

Your doctor told you not to drink and yet you drink until you black out? Does that make sense to you?

My doctor did not say not to drink, she only mentioned my liver enzymes were "a little elevated". She advised me to eat less red meat, processed foods, and sodium. I knew that drinking 3-4 times a week was a bit much and decided on my own to cut back. BTW, my liver enzymes are fine as of Dec. 02.

Your liver enzymes may be ok but it sounds to me as if you've killed off quite a few brain cells if you're having blackouts: classic symptom of advanced alcoholism

Su médico le dijo que no a beber y sin embargo, beber hasta que fuera negro ? ¿Tiene eso sentido?

Been there, don't that. I don't drink too often, and I don't always get in trouble when I drink. Everytime I've gotten into trouble it was while I was drunk. I'll go out once in awhile and drink but anymore I prefer to drink at home or at freinds houses.

I thought the story was kinda funny. I drink heavily as well, and have stolen random shit also, but not in a malicious way, but I guess in my intoxicated state I thought I was being cute or funny. I don't know, but it made me look insane to other people. I'd steal random stuff like a night light, or someones hat. I'd find it in my bag later when I was sober and have no memory of me taking it.

The best thing you can do right now is to not obsess over it and control your drinking in the future. Blacking out should be a major wake up call. Many people who experience a blackout a couple of times go on to black out with less and less alcohol in their system. Stay home if you want to drink that heavily.

  • You took Ambien? Hypnotic drugs like Ambien are the most dangerous psychotropic drugs. Alcohol with Ambien can lead to behavior problems like you described. There are many cases of Ambien induced dream-like states where people eat, drive, shop and don't know that they're doing it.
Mixing alcohol with Ambien is dangerous for the potential of sudden death from cardiac arrhythmia.

¿Por qué preguntar por qué de un borracho? ¿No sabe usted que, después de un par de años como un bebedor empedernido ? Usted es un borracho ; nada de lo que haces tiene sentido.

Stop getting blackout drunk, you stupid fool. Typical of almost all of the worthless and repugnant failures that plague our world. Is it really so hard to take a doctor's advice? I hope you enjoy liver failure!

Would ambien count? I don't know much about pills but I was recently prescribed ambien and I had taken one earlier in the day. (I usually work nights so I sleep during the day.)

I'm an experienced drinker myself and only remember blacking out after mixing benzos with alcohol. After all the combined effect is what some people use when they "date rape" someone. Yes it's entirely possible if not probable that's where the amnesiac effect came from.

Thank you. I read up a bit and found that it is actually common for someone who takes ambien, but doesn't sleep for a regular period or on a regular schedule to experience blackouts and exhibit erratic behavior when drunk.

Even Chelsea Handler told a story about switching sleeping meds because she couldn't drink on ambien. I still just really want to make things right with this girl, but I don't know her name and I don't even remember what she looks like.
