Is it normal that i still love him?

I love this guy. He means the world to me and if anything ever happened to him I don't know what I would do. I've known him for a year and we've dated four times. He loves me and always tells me that it hurts him to see me hurt. I don't know if I should stop talking to him because he means so much to me. I have talked to him since the breakup but I still tell him I love him. Should i forget him forever and not talk to him anymore? This relationship has turned into a never ending cycle that keeps happening. Its hard for me to avoid the situation when hes so stubborn.
