Is it normal that i stay awake for prolonged periods of time?

Ok so I have an irregular sleeping pattern. Sometimes I can stay awake for several days and I feel completely fine O_O And then, usually around the fourth or third day i just feel so tired.....
And I usually have nightmares (and most of them are pretty gruesome, i mean one time this old lady was chasing me around underground while dragging chains with hooks on them and i kept slipping into puddles of blood, and she kept trying to put fuzzy leeches on my neck etc....)but it's like I can't wake up and I keep sleeping and watching them....
And sometimes I can wake up at 4.30 am for no reason and be like "ok should i do some homework or something, since i don't wanna fall back asleep?"
And sometimes I wake up several times during one night, but I'm too tired to stay awake so I try to fall back asleep....Can you call that an irregular sleeping pattern? What is wrong with me? Oh fyi, i don't stay up late on my pc, in case you thought internet is my problem. Would you call this insomnia??

maybe your trouble is that you should sleep in the day instead of at night? i thought i was an insomniac but it turns out i just sleep better in the day. i used to stay awake for most of the week, only taking half hour naps when i was about to die, and then sleep like 14-20 hours on sunday. things get really trippy after a few days. i'd try to smoke some herb or get some sleep somehow at least a few times a week, or you'll get sick physically and mentally. i can still stay up 48 hours without the help from drugs, so it's useful when you need to get things done.

I don't have dreams like that but I can stay awake for long periods of time.. Lol but I kinda like to I think sleeping I s a waste of time and I'm not tired anyways so,, but I force myself to sleep after a while because I don't want to get sick.

I think its irregular if your staying up for days, also it might be your place might be haunted, if you believe in that. I had a simular problem I would try to wake up from my bad dream but I couldn't, but when I moved it stopped happening

It's not insomnia. You should to discharge it by tell to your friend, go to see Psychiatrist and then try to stop thinking about that nightmare ( Actually dreams is from your thinking your fear and thing that you want to do but you can't do and nonsense )

Yes. I would call this a health problem. Tell your doctor about it.
