Is it normal that i sound good then bad?

I wanted to know, is it normal that my voice sounds really good when im singing to myself but when I listen to a recording of myself singing I sound quiet and off key?

    Happens to everyone. I remember once I was home alone and I was singing out loud, and I sounded soooo good. My brother came upstairs, I didn't know he was home, and told me 'not to quit my day job' hahaha.
    Sing anyway, who cares. :)
