Is it normal that i sleep soundly facing certian directions?

I have made this observation about myself and wondering if this happens to other people as well. When I sleep south and west I have normal dreams and fall asleep quickly, but when I sleep north and east I have nightmares and have trouble falling asleep.

When I don't know where I am I sleep facing up because I don't want risking having a nightmare.

Is this normal?

this might be explained with fen shui. I"m not real familiar with that though to tell you one way or another. I do know that for example people that have lost a limb and have what's called 'phantom pain' should sleep with their head facing north, so from that I can say that is does affect us. I would read some fen shui to understand it more in detail though.

  • It's psychalogical you expect to have nightmares on tht side cos you've maybe been right about it twice in a row so you think that sleep on one side for a whole year and you'll get both

I normally sleep on the right side of the bed, facing away from the centre. I don't even know where west is from there.

It is probably a self-fulfilling prophecy; when you face east or north you expect to have a bad nights sleep, so you end up having a nightmare. Just a theory :)

I agree with Dom. There's an easy way to prove it. If you check the direction in the morning only, you'll see if there's a pattern.

If could be that both the nightmares and the direction you choose to sleep are symptomatic of something else, though. I.e., eating a big meal before bed may make it more comfortable to lie a certain way as well as increase the chance of remembering your dreams because you have a restless night.

I've never thought about what orientation I get to sleep in, but I always get to sleep on my left side.
