Try a different doctor. He/she should have tested your oxygen saturation levels for a 12 hour overnight period or even referred you to a sleep lab.

Something is medically wrong, and your doctor should not quit until the problem is found and solved.

Teens need 12 hours of sleep. Whereas, adults need 8 hours. You're getting way too much!

my brother and uncle are both like this. My uncle has sleep apnea and i think my brother might have the same problem. He also wakes up in the middle of the night at times. Id go see a doctor about this.

most people may not know they have it though, cause most who have it will still sleep the whole time, but it disrupts your sleep pattern.

Do you have a hobby or any friends to spend time with after work? It could be that you sleep many hours because you come home to an empty place or a dull routine. Try exercising.

I discovered that i have chronic fatigue after I got mono a couple of years ago. I used to keep about the same sleep pattern U r talking about. I would sleep 10 to 12 hrs a night come home from work/school and go straight to bed. If ur not depressed u might be the same way. What I found that helps me is getting on a strict sleep schedule. And stitching to it. If that doesn't help I take caffeine pills on top of the sleep schedule. But if u r already consuming caffeine during ur day such as coffee, tea, energy drinks/ shots or even pop ( i dont drink any of these things) I wouldn't suggest it. Ur body can get addicted to caffeine very fast. Nd now I have a lot of head aches because of that. But it makes it so i can function through the day. Hope this helps :)

Lucky you! What I would give to be able to sleep that long! It probably isn't that normal though. I read that too much sleep (hypersomnia) can be just as unhealthy as lack of sleep (insomnia). You might want to go to a sleep clinic.

have you had a major upset in life lately? I use to be able to run all day off like only 3 or 4 hours of sleep a night... full time college student full time job go figure... anyways, after my dad passed away I smimply can not function unless I have at least 10 hours of sleep a day... and on my days off I sleep up to like 14 15 hours a day... I'm not necessarliy depressed I'm just tryingt to figure out how to adjust and when I'm asleep I don't have to face it I guess.

yea maybe another doctor might be a good idea like bigguy said. Sometimes if I take tyrosine (an amino acid supplement) when I'm tired, I think it helps a little. Don't take more than the rda, though. (I think it's around 1700 mg a day, but look it up to make sure).

exercise and diet usually help most things. If it doesn't, then try a psychologist maybe?
