Is it normal that i sleep a lot?

Okay, so I know everyone tells me "oh it's just the regular 2:30 PM feeling everyone gets, but me I sleep a lot, I'll sometimes fall asleep at 6:30 PM and the wake up at 1:30 PM the next day! I don't do a lot during the day, I usually stay at home and read or watch tv, or I'm on the computer, I don't have any "after school clubs" or "activities" I do after school or during the weekend, I'm an indoor person. I have learned about this sleep disorder "narcolepsy" but I don't think I have it because most people who have narcolepsy, also have cataplaxy, and I don't have that. I do have schizophrenia, bi-polar disorder, dyslexia, ADD, and ADHD. Does me having those have ANYthing to do with me sleeping a lot? I have my meds which are Focalin XR 30 mgs, Fluoxetine HCL 20 mgs, and b-12, I take those everyday, that's just information if anyone has any information or links that would help lots, thanks. :)

when i was on medications, i would fall asleep standing up. I would talk to your psychiatrist about it. Good luck!

  • Do you take any antipsychotics? Antipsychotics can make you very drowsy. Look up provigil. Its a stimulant that works great. I have similar problems to you. You should get a sleep study. Some people with narcolepsy don't have cataplexy or you may have another sleep disorder such as sleep apnea or hypersomnia.
