Is it normal that i see my mother drunk a lot?

So, this is probably a stupid question, but I'd like to hear other people's perspective on my situation.
My mom gets drunk quite often - around 4 - 5 nights a week. When it causes some sort of problem, like a fight or something, she'll stop for a while, but she starts up again without fail.
The thing is, she's not a violent or mean drunk. She's just slow, talks nonsense, starts verbal fights, and is overall not herself. What's more, it pisses me off to see her drunk, so I end up short-tempered with someone quick to get emotional about it.
I'm 18, so I'm not asking questions like 'what should I do?' - because I know what i'd need to do to adress the situation. What I want to know is; is it normal to see your mother drunk so often? Should I have to see her drunk so often?
:) thanks

Thanks everyone. :) Now when I bring the problem up, I have in my defense that it is in fact NOT normal to see your mother drunk so often.

You could check out Al-Anon. It's a support group for families of alcoholics.

I know same thing happens to me once a month, not even my mom, my dad too, they get together and they drink once a month like for 1 week sometimes for 2 weeks... I hate when they are drunk they changes feels like another person... its really fucked up I was crying telling them they want listen because they are drunk and they want hear you, Don tell your mom anything when she is drunk because she will forget everything next day, my advice is Tell her that you feel bad tell her that you love her tell her to go to doctor try everything to stop her from alcohol i know its feels really fucked up... I was crying, i hate it them... what i do is i just live with my life going to gym doing the right things..just live with your life...and never hate her, tell her that you love her and i hope she will stop drinking. Good Luck

Not normal. She needs help but if she's not willing to accept that help then you need to take steps to protect yourself and move on. Much easier said than done, I know. Very sad situation. Offer to take her to an AA meeting. Best wishes.
