I like to just slip it in while showering, studying, or watching TV. I can keep it in there for a maximum of one hour, but I'm working my way up.
I'm a 63 year old man, and often wear a butt plug all day. It's comfortable, and I enjoy the stimulation. I often forget I even have it in, as I am so accustomed to having one inside of me. This is completely false. Please, please stop spreading myths about anal when you don't know what you're talking about. Keeping a plug in your ass will not harm it unless you have extreme pain. The standard rule with anal is: if it hurts, stop it immediately, and the same applies for plugs. If you can't keep it in for more than an hour, then you should take it out when it starts to become uncomfortable, but it's perfectly fine to keep pushing that limit and try to wear it for longer.
Filling your ass and holding your sphincter open with a plug doesn't harm it. Once you remove it, it tightens back up to normal soon after. Even after years and years of regular plug wear. I've been engaging in anal play and plug wear for over 15 or 20 years now. The longest continuous period so far that I've worn a butt plug was 43 days, and I've gone up to massive 3"+ diameter plugs (2"+ at the sphincter) for over 18 hours before. I have zero health issues and no sign of them developing. My ass tightens back up to normal if I stop wearing plugs, and gets as tight as ever when not in use. My anal muscles are very strong, no loss of tone and no nerve damage preventing their control. Nearly all people who engage in frequent anal play, even extreme anal play, agree—including ones who have been doing this for many decades and are now up there in years. If you're careful you can do extremely large and long term anal play with no long term issues.
Most people have no interest in going that extreme, and so with small or medium butt plugs they are almost definitely not going to run into any issues.
