Is it normal that i put in my earphones sticking out of my ears?

I cannot put my earphones in regularly, they just slide out of my ears. So I have been putting in my earphones sticking out from my ears, like kind of what Shrek looks like. This way, they stick and do not fall out. Is that normal?

    I don't know, but I hate those "ear bud" things! They've never fitted my ears properly and they are so uncomfortable! I prefer proper headphones.
