Is it normal that i pretend my stuffed animal is my dog?

My dog Jewel died about two years ago. She was a German shepherd, eleven years old, and I had her since I was twelve and she was a newborn puppy.

I have a big dog stuffed animal that I've slept with every night since she died. When I'm laying in my bed or if I'm sitting on my couch or whatever I like to hold it close and pretend it's Jewel snuggling with me like she used to. I pet her and talk to her and kiss her just like I used to do with the real Jewel, and a lot of times I can really make myself believe she's there with me instead of her just being a stuffed animal.

is this normal?

Aw, it's you coping with losing her. I'm sorry about losing her. It's normal because you love her and losing a pet is a hard thing.

I'm sorry for your loss. Sounds like this is a sort of a coping mechanism to help you deal with your grief. How long has it been since you lost your dog?
