My mother died seven years ago and sometimes I like to pretend that she's still alive. I find it comforting.
I thought this was normal because I know that I'm just pretending and that she really is dead, but other people seem to find it strange. For example, when I take her shopping they point and scream at her.
Is this normal?
My mother died ten years ago and my father 1 year ago. Sometimes I think of them still being alive. For some reason, it makes me feel good. I don't think it is bad but I think other people might find it strange so you probably should keep that to your self.
My step dad, who was more a father to me than my own, died seven years and three days ago. Every day, I picture him walking through the front door, saying it was a mistake and he wasn't dead, even though I know the truth. Sometimes, I picture him sitting with my mom on his spot on the couch, drinking coffee with his 6 teaspoons of sugar in it, just the way he liked it, and eating pancakes drenched in syrup. Every year on his death anniversary, I cry all day. People say I'm crazy and I need to get over it, but you never truly do.
Sorry for your loss; if you find it comforting there's nothing wrong with it. Or think of it this way...even though she's not physically alive, everybody is still alive in spirit after they die.
My mother died two years ago, and I like to imagine what it what be like if she were alive. Like what she'd think about me getting married or having kids someday. I think its normal.
Well it depends is she more of friendly zombie that follows a strictly vegetarian diet or does she like to eat brains?
If she tries to eat brains that could account for the screaming and pointing.
