Is it normal that i panic when he doesn't text me first?

I started seeing this guy six months ago and from day one, he texted me first every single day. From the moment he woke up at 630am until he went to sleep at around 1 at night, he would text me constantly - every few minutes! I felt so happy and cared about...he was so sweet too. This lasted about 5 months. The longest he would go without texting me was one day.

Now he can go days without texting me first....last week it was three days! I felt so sick, worried and anxious I could barely eat and felt like I would throw up. I became addicted to his attention and I'm constantly freaking out in my head that he will stop contacting me. I rarely text him first because I know he's afraid of commitment and backs off if a girl chases him, but I do text first occasionally (maybe once or twice a week)

How do I calm down about all this? It's making me so sick.
