Is it normal that i "overthink" absolutely everything?!

I literally overthink everything and I feel it's more of a curse than a blessing! How the hell do I stop doing this so much?!

This is how I see it.

"Overthinkers" are blessed with great thinking potential, but without the ability to bring order to your thinking it can feel like a curse. Sometimes I think that "overthinking" is just untamed curiosity, desperation to get to the root of a problem and solve it, attempting to deal with an overload of information about a problem without the right tools to process it mentally. You have to learn how to direct your attention usefully to succeed.

This is how I react when I start overthinking a problem in your life and it gets too much. Learn how to reduce distraction - turn off any device that isn't needed right now, like a phone, and go somewhere you won't be disturbed like a bedroom. These are prime conditions for clear thinking. Relax as much as you can. It sounds cheesy, but you can even use breathing exercises if you find it helps.

Then, slowly allow your mind the approach the problem systematically. Think of all the perspectives you could use to analyze a problem. Think about the all the different people involved, if there is anyone involved but you, and imagine in detail exactly what each one of them sees from their perspective. When you have got through all the people, you can think about the problem itself. You can go through it in chronological order, if that's the best way you have to imagine it. Try and compare it to other problems you've had in the past, or problems you know other people have had. What was the solution to those problems? Was the solution effective?

The key thing is to approach these steps as calmly as possible. It becomes natural with time. You have to be confident that if you don't find a solution, you still tried your best and most other people probably wouldn't have found one either.

I think dom gave the best advice, couldn't have said it better. Turn of your phone, tablet. Keep still. Be present

    Meditation might help.

I do this too sadly. In fact it got me kicked off a website. People don't like when you think. I curse society for encouraging blind followings, and rewarding idiocy. I do this a lot. I don't think its normal but unless you are in the right position its not going to do you any good.
