Is it normal that i only like guys from games/movie/books?

I just think that guys in real life are just...Boring, I mean where I live all boys are the same, I would go into more detail but I don't want to offend anybody...I don't see myself moving any time soon and I'm really depressed right now perhaps that adds to it. If it continues, I may just end it...Maybe then I could be with them if "heaven" does exist...

There's a boy who made a similar post recently, except he was stating that he preferred girls in anime and disliked real ones. Perhaps you two should get together and try to show each that there's more to people than what you see on tv and not everyone is the same.

I actually only like the characters with flaws, any character without flaws to me is uninteresting. Though you may ask why real life men are so differnt the answer to that, is that I honestly don't know why, they are just...Not for me...

If you are serious (not just using hyperbole or seeking attention) and suffer from genuine depression and suicidal thoughts, you NEED to speak to someone about it, somebody you can trust.

However, if you are just using hyperbole or seeking attention, there are people who genuinely do want to die and hate every moment of their existence. It's insulting to pretend to be in such a state just because you enjoy the drama it creates. Never cry wolf.

Regardless, just because you haven't found any boys you like doesn't mean you won't. You're attaching yourself to these characters, who are, by the way, fictional and whose every aspect is produced by some guy or girl with a pen and paper behind the scenes, because you desire romantic company but know nobody who fits the bill. We don't all have crushes on someone at every moment. Sometimes there is nobody in our lives who interests us in that way. Maybe you will have to wait until you finally move away, but hey, perhaps the wait will be worth it if you do meet a guy just right for you.

Put it down, whatever it is. You're getting unrealistic expectations and it's messing with your head. You need to learn to be happy with the simpler things. Not everyone has the guts, or the luck to live the life of a book character. You're just narrowing down your options to very slim. You need to remember, that even in books you see the andventure, not the day to day life. Life's kinda like that too, you have your adventures but there are also times when nothing really happens. Just find someone you like and stick around until their adventure begins.

The thing is if I were to explain some of the characters, they wouldn't be your typical sword slashing amazing...Ness. Anyways, even what I want in a real life boy is to high expectations really. I want smarts, geeky, decent looking and a good personality, and thats...Really hard to find T_T

I think you spend too much time with games, movies and books. Have you ever had a relationship with a man? Try to take a break from entertainment because media is warping your view of men. Real men have been sexually satisfying for real women since the dawn of time. These fake men are not historically or biologically necessary for sexual arousal.

I've had a number of relationships It's always ended the same, I realise they are not what I need or vice versa and from there we don't talk to each other anymore...That was around 2 years ago now...Nothings changed but maybe it's for the best? :)
Also most of the time, I'm not bothered about sexual arousal, for some reason, I've never been one for it and have no idea why, it could change sometime, anytime.
      I don't know *shrugs*

You sound like a dumb teeny bopper :/ there's plenty of real guys that are great but don't expect a hot wizard or a sweet emotional soldier to come sweeping you off your feet. Life is not a movie.

Of course not! I know life is not a movie, but I've had bad experiences with social interaction as a whole, I find modern society disgusting mainly where I live though and even if I found the right person chances are they wouldn't return the feelings.

Sad but true, you just keep on going and living it out though, nothing much else you CAN do :)

I assure you ending it will not solve any problems. Ending it will only force you to face them, so realistically, facing them in the first place will only save you from dealing with them again in a harsher form. If I'm making sense?
Your problem right meow, is that you can't find a real boy to like, correct? So perhaps you could patiently wait, or not even care about finding the right guy, and do things that YOU enjoy doing.. And in due time, the right time, you will bump into that one person, real person, who just connects with you and you with him.
Don't end it, just be strong!

  • You mean, people in completely fictional, drama, non-possible or likely scenarios are more exciting than people that are stuck in reality where those things never happen because the opportunity never arises due to most of it being fiction or unlikely to happen? Well son of a gun.

But in all honesty, I somewhat agree, just in the reverse. Most girls I have known have been just as boring, if not more so. There social activities are just...Ugh.

However, you don't realize something. Nobody can compare to the characters, male or female, in these books. Just as you cannot match the females that are more entertaining than the boring females, or the limitation of excitement anyone can bring.

You have to think, why would this character want "you", though. This character, of excitement, challenge, danger, and so on. Why would someone from such a world (fictional) if was reality, want someone from this world (reality)? They'd find you, me, and anyone else in this world, boring.

The only "real" people in our reality that we can consider special, are those that do bad things. Which again, such people would not care an awful lot about people such as yourself, I, or anyone else.

It's quite sad, come to think of it. We live in a world where we make our own world, our own characters, only to be teased that we can't be one with the world and characters we have made.

In a way, our stories aren't happy endings, just more sadness.

Perhaps life is one huge tragic novel...It's a thought that floated into my head a day ago... It must be someone with one huge twisted mind to think of a world so harsh...How intriguing...

It's normal to be in love with fictional characters, BUT it's not normal to be so depressed that you want to "end it" in order to be with them.

You need to begin healing yourself by learning to think positively and changing your perspective on life. An awesome site that will help you with this is Tiny Buddha dot com. Both my brother and I use that site and it has helped us tremendously with taking off our jade-colored glasses. Try it and see what happens. What have you got to lose?

Hey, don't end it. I used to think exactly like you a few years ago and I would only get infatuated by videogame characters and never real guys, I thought they were boring as well. Then later on I realized that I was just around the wrong people, and that the men who interest me are the ones who like stuff I like :) (videogames!) you can always meet people online.
Though I've never been in a relationship...just had crushes gone wrong, but that's a whole different level of depressing... haha.

  • Online dating works wonders, too.

Maybe he can move to where you are.

    Comment Hidden ( show )
  • Well, if all of the guys in your vicinity suck, then yeah.

Move to a city. There's all kinds of men there.

I don't do well with the dramatics, and telling you not to off yourself. It's not my style, and, well, I don't have any good reason to tell you not to. I'm not a pro-lifer.

Since I feel I should tell you something in the direction of not offing yourself... I can say this. Life can get better. Mine has. I have lived some very, very dark days and as of recently, things have become more light. There is much hope for my future. I have dreams, and maybe one day I can make them happen. I would never have been able to feel like this, and feel the happiness in my future if I had offed myself.

You only have one to live, that we know of.

If it's not so horrible, maybe you should stick with it. The next life, or lack there of, the unknown, can be a very terrible thing.
