Is it normal that i only have 3-4 periods a year?

Every year, since I was 12 (when i first started), I had the same problem. I only have a period 3-4 times a year instead of the once-every-month like most females... When I first noticed that, within the first few years I started, I told my mom and she said that with time it would get better and I would start to get regular... But now I'm 19 and its been the same so far... What's wrong with me? Is this normal?

It's not normal, but only a doctor can tell you if it's something to be concerned with. Which it probably isn't unless you have lots of pain and other weird symptoms. I was irregular for years but by my late 20's my cycles became regular.

This happens often, but it is not normal, seek a doctor and he can prescribe pills to regulate your period and it will also be better for your health

Some people consider me underweight... I don't really think so. I'm 5'6", 131 lbs.

I would like to say how lucky you are, but this isn't normal or healthy either. You really need to see a doctor.

When do your periods happen? Are they spread out throughout the year, or in one season? Do they always occur together (3-4 lunar cycles consecutively)?
Which country do you live in?

They spread out... My periods were never together... It just happens every once in a while... a long while... =/

Then you probably have malfunctioning ovaries.
Have you been checked for STD's?
Also might be an ovarian infection.
Best to see a Doctor of Gynecology

Go to the doctor, only they can tell you.

I have this too and, although it's not normal, it's not something to worry about much. At least not in my case. It happens because of a deficiency of a certain hormone and if you take pills it'll regulate your period in no time. Anyway you should go to a doctor to get checked :)
