Is it normal that i only gain weight on my stomach area?

Okay, I'm not sure whether it's genetics, diabetes, or something else that's causing me to only gain weight around my tummy..my mom is diabetic, but I don't think I have diabetes. Maybe it could jut be genetically? Some people in my family are apple shaped. Any advice? Is this happening to you? How can I lose weight?

I'm an 18 year old female..

    Yeah, it is genetic. Where people store their fat is almost entirely genetic. Some women in my family store their fat in their stomach and as a result, their children do the same and funny enough, so does my sister.

    However, my Mom stores her fat in her legs, ass and thighs and consequently, as I take more after her lineage of the family than anyone else, so do I.

    There are many weight loss techniques you can try however, without knowing the finer aspects of your physiology and your lifestyle (and without the medical expertise!) I really can't recommend anything serious to you. Diet and exercise is the typical recommendation, however, if you are serious about weight loss, you can consult a nutritionist and get on a diet plan that most suits your needs.

    Genetics probably. I heard if you eat standing up it all goes to your stomach.

    Get a yoga ball. They are great for toning your belly.

    I heard it had something to do with your natural body shape. Like if your a pear shape you gain a lot of your weight in your butt and thighs.

    Everyone is different when it comes to gaining weight. It all goes to different places.
    When I put weight on it all goes to my ass and thighs, because I'm pear shaped. I am not sure if this is genetic since I am the only pear in my family.
