Is it normal that i only breathe through one nostril at a time?

I noticed a few years ago that I only breathe out one nostril at a time. I'm not sure if its the same with breathing in and I'm not sure if this is how its always been. And I go from only breathing through my left nostril to only breathing through my right nostril and back again. Do most people only breathe through one nostril at a time because I went most of my life without noticing this. And I'm 18 years old.

I don't breathe out of either nostril. I block my nostrils with tissue paper each morning, it is essential that the tissue be changed each day. I find breathing through my mouth alone makes me more attractive to women. That and not brushing my teeth more than once a week. You'd be amazed at the looks I get from women on the bus and subway when I try and speak to them. I give my phone number to loads of women, I haven't got a call back yet, but I'm expecting to hear from someone any day now.

I used to breath though only one of my nostrils (left one) it used to get verry annoyng especialy during sleep and i often had difficulty breathing. it caused by the fact that my inner cartilage was bent, making one of my nostrils smaller than the other, i had it fixed up.... good excuse fore a nose-job:D. most of my family have the same problem.

    yeah most people altinate.

Yeah i don't know if i was testing it. I think my hand was just near my nose and i noticed it. I think I first noticed it when i had a cold then i saw if i was still breathing through one nostril when i didn't have a cold and i still did. Off and on, i test it and sometimes, it feels annoying if one nostril's too closed up.

Well I didn't think that could happen to people but I think i figured out how i knew. I have a habit of putting leaning my face on my hand. and I put my pinky on my mustache area beneath my nose and that's probably how I noticed it.

I think I use both simultaneously.

I think it's more uncommon than abnormal. This is first time I've heard of it, but if it's been working for you all this time I don't think it's anything to worry about.

One of the rarely known facts about humans. Yes, this is normal. It alternates every twenty minutes. If you have a runny nose, it's liable to affect one nostril more too. And this too alternates.

Ok good so it is completely normal and every human does this. And I'm just not normal for noticing. Is it the same with animals?
