Is it normal that i often feel like i have to bark/howl?

Sometimes.. ok more like 2 or 3 times daily I get these HUGE urges to bark like a dog or howl like a wolf. I can actually do it so that it sounds exactly like a real dog/wolf. (I can actually even do different dog breeds) Once, i recorded myself and my friends didn't belive that it wasn't a real dog. Sometimes, I do it just for fun.. but other times.. It feels like I HAVE to. When I was a kid, I used to pretend to be a wolf/dog/human mix. I quess it just became habit? I know i'm not really part dog ok? And please no 'Your a werewolf' or 'This is isn't true' comments. Cause this is actually true. And yes, I know this sounds crazy and I would probally say this was just spam too if I wasn't the one it was happening too. Should I try to stop? If so... how?

Of course you are not part dog. That would be just silly. The answer then is quite obvious: You were born during that time of year known as the "dog days of summer" This would account for this affliction coming upon you at a very early age. It doesn't matter what your birth date is on your birth certificate. Government officials would have stepped in, secretly meeting with your parents and hospital officials to affix a date that does not reveal the actual time of year that you were born. This whole mysterious dog thing is under governmental scientific study you see. And it is all hush-hush right now. So your dog bark is normal for you. Until they find a cure, well, bark away!

It sounds as if this started off small and developed into a habit, which you seem to be in control of to the extent that in spite of the strong urges you don't actually make these doggy noises in public.

I guess if you want to change this, you just have to work on the usual way of changing habits. Hypnotherapy could be worth checking out.

Sounds like vocal chord fixation to me. Try finding hobbies that utilize the vocal chords in some way ... unless you like randomly wanting to howl several times throughout the day with people there

I'd never heard of vocal chord fixation so I googled it and it's nothing to do with barking or howling like a dog, as far as I could work out from the medical jargon it's a medical condition.
