Is it normal that i never want to eat?

I never ever want to eat. I can be hungry, but only eat sometimes then cos it's annoying to be hungry. I hate food and wish I could starve for days on end. I used to have anorexia and for a while after recovering I felt differently towards food, I enjoyed it and liked it and so on. But now I feel nothing but anger and fear over food. Every time I eat I'll feel rubbish about it for ages afterwards, and I wake up every day wishing I hadn't eaten the day before. I'm losing weight even though I feel like I'm eating loads. Is this normal?

I agree with Avant-Garde, I think you may be experiencing a relapse, have you talked to a doctor or therapist about it?

Wow! So many people on this website are the opposite of me. I LOVE to eat!

It sounds like you're starting to relapse back into your ED. I know the feeling. Leading up to my relapse, I started to feel like it was a waste of time to eat and I thought eating equaled weakness. I haven't felt like this in a few months though, but sometimes it does. So, I ignore it and continue to eat because if I didn't it would make my life more stressful... It's normal to think like this, but you need to somehow gain some dominance over it.

I think you already know this is not normal and I hope you don't wanna be anorexic again and you should do something about it.

  • You know what, I do think it is normal to go through periods when food doesn't seem that appealing.

I've never have (and never will) struggled with anorexia, but I do go through times where I eat just to get some energy or get rid of hunger pangs and that food is just: meh. But every 4-6 weeks I become very interested in tasting good food again and want to eat it because it is so delicious. That feeling lasts about a week and then I go back to the boring food; the staples (cheese, eggs, bread and peanut butter) that I find palatable enough to choke down regularly. My interest in food waxes and wanes and I don't have an eating disorder - not a big deal for me.

If you're losing weight though and you don't want to because it's not healthy for you, make sure that the food you are eating is nutritious and calorie-dense.
