Is it normal that i never know the answer to most things?

Whenever someone asks me something, I always say "I don't know." Even a simple question like, "What do you want for lunch?" I never know what I want. Today, my dad asked me if I wanted to go into the supermarket with him to buy some stuff. I kept saying, "I don't know I don't know I don't know," and eventually I started crying for no reason. I don't know why I do this, and it happens every single day. I just want a reason for why I do this. (I do have a therapist but I'm too afraid to talk to her)

may be you are sceptical or too lazy to run your brain, you have to introspect(soul-search) and face the reality on your own, even if it is against your ego(prestige)

my opinion: i know this sounds weird, but sometimes phrases that we say very often are linked to a deeper experience that we've undergone.

for instance if you went through something that caused you pain, but you said "I dont know" maybe it brought you some level of comfort to say just that, so its inbred in you to say it. (does that make sense? if not sorry - i tried.)

what i'm explaining is that i think that our brain - especially the subconscious - works in associative patterns. what is the emotion that you experience that you can associate with the phrase "I dont know"? go back to the very first time you ever remember saying "I dont know". what type of day was it? what event happened? how did it make you feel?

sorry if this isnt making any sense. keep us posted anyway.

  • Ask your therapist if you can write them an email telling them about it or print out your concerns and bring it to your next meeting. :)
