Is it normal that i never eat fast food?
I am 37 and never eat fast food. I was brought up on it. Every Tuesday or Thursday my parents would take me to Skipper's, Dairy Queen, or wherever their latest binge led them. As a kid my eating habits were terrible, I think I mostly ate cereal and crap. Candy and fast food, fried anything. I craved it and never wanted anything else.
But now I NEVER EVER eat it. I went to Europe in 88/89 as an exchange student and was totally embarrassed by what I wanted to eat. I craved things like Hostess donuts, gum, candy, pop-tarts, Cocoa Krispies, McDonald's, etc. It was so bad. I realized how bad I ate and the fact that these people ate relatively healthy every day all day.
After that I pretty much swore off it, with a few trips to fast food places while I was a Marine. The last time I ate fast food recently was in 2006 and it was Taco Bell and it made me feel really bad about myself.
I'm sure I have food issues and whatever, but how often do people eat fast food? I dated a guy recently who ate it every night and it just repelled me. I couldn't believe it. His biggest decision was "Ivar's, McDonald's, or Jack In The Box," gross. No wonder his skin was so shiny, right??
Even my mom loves to go to the Olive Garden or Pizza Hut to get "just a little pizza" and it just turns me off. I'll sit there and eat a few bites of the minestrone soup and say I just ate. Really, that soup is bad - I'd rather eat Progresso.
Fast food to me is so tasteless and full of calories. I feel like a picky little brat, but what am I supposed to do - eat crap food because it makes her happy? Not to say everything I eat is healthy - I eat lots of salty things, breads, bagels, and cereals along with fruits, veggies, and healthy foods. AM I A FREAK or just health-conscious?
