Is it normal that i never ask back

I mean, when someone asks me how I am and what I'm going to do during the weekend. I always answer but never ask back. I guess I just don't care. I would hate to act as if I cared because I hate lying and faking my emotions. If someone smiles at me, I never smile back, unless I'm in a good mood and it's a pretty girl or someone I knew for a long time. Do you think people think that I'm an egoistic douchebag who doesn't care about anyone?

It is absolutely normal, humans have a tendency to think that if you don't act "normal" to them (i.e. don't shake someone's hand when their hand is extended, don't smile back, don't hug back or what ever) then you're being rude and all that... this type of thinking is weak..
If you don't feel like doing something, if you feel like being Honest and not hide nor fake your emotions then no one has any rite to tell you that it's wrong.

That person went out of their way to ask how you're doing.

You are probably thinking you're doing them a favor by not being "fake." But do you really think so?

You might ruin someones day. Especially to someone who really needed a smile.

A little smile can go a long way.

but then that's just my opinion.

I do the same too often. People seem to find it rude though, so I'm at least making an effort to appease them.

I would work on the smiling part... but other than that, it's normal.

    • But I don't know how to. I tried smiling to myself in the mirror and I looked really stupid.

It will if you aren't used to it. But HOW did you smile? Did you simply curl it up just a little, mouth closed? Or did you give yourself a big shit-faced toothy grin? Just work on the simple, closed smile. When someone smiles at you, give them the "shy smile", not the "shit-faced grin".
