Is it normal that i need the tv to be on..

so that I can fall asleep? I don't have it on really high, just to where it's barely audible. I blame my dad because when I was a baby, he would put on the radio (to a late night talk show) so that I can fall asleep. Is it normal?

I don't do this myself but I've heard about this several times before, so I'd say it's fairly normal.

  • I used to have roommates that always slept with the tv on and it drove me nuts. Every single night I waited for them to fall asleep so then I could turn off the tv and fall asleep myself.

Pretty normal in my books. If this is weird enough to you that you need to ask about it's normalcy, that might be a bit abnormal.

I think a lot of people do that but I heard the light from the tv interferes with sleep patterns. I started using an app called 'Sleepmaker Rain.'. It sounds just like rain and stays on for 45 minutes. Also good if you are sleeping somewhere without a TV.

  • I've heard falling to sleep with the tv on is a sign of/ worshiping the devil. No lie. Look it up.

I didn't used to need any noise but after living in the south with the fan on all the time I have to have a noise on now. This last winter I couldn't have the fan on since it was so cold so I would fall asleep listening to something on my iPod and now I can't sleep with out some kind of louder noise. I have tried but I just set it up so it turns off while I am asleep and won't notice it.

Everynight for the past decade or more, I have slept with a fan on right next to me, even if its -30 degrees out. I find the mechanical noise helps me sleep. When it is quite, I freak out for the fear of a pop up from a horror movie... anyways... the noise really seems to lull me to sleep.

I sleep with the TV on every night, and if I have company, they always comment on it, saying they can't sleep.
    It's just a comfort thing. :)

I use to do that too. I think the flashing lights and background noise helped.
