    I feel more comfortable with my online friends because I can open up to them more. And if they make fun of me, I just find a new friend

    No that's fine, we have more say over who we talk to on the internet/more diversity. I dunno how old you you are but if you travel around/go to college you might find a greater diversity of pple who you have more in common with :) You can join forums slash 'dating' websites and look for pple with similar interests to you.

    It's common but not normal. There's more to being with people than just tapping away on a keyboard.

    You need to surround yourself with people you find commonality with and will help you grow as a person.
