Is it normal that i make eye contact with the guy i like alot

This guy is over all the time. Recently he got annoyed because he said I was looking at him too much.
The only thing is I kind of noticed him looking at me alot in the beginning, so I honestly just felt like I was looking back most of the time.
Is it normal? Eye contact is really hot for me
