Is it normal that i'm white but just love the blues??
Hiya,
I was raised hearing loads of old blues stuff. When I read 'The Colour Purple' in 6th form it was the only classic I actually liked, and when I had to read passages the dialect was no trouble at all. I sometimes think of it as my first language and struggle to not talk that way!
I thought – and hoped -- I’d grow out of it, but I can't let it go. I still love the blues so much I wish I could live in one of those shacks and go to a church like the one in Blues Brothers where the preacher says “I said, when I woke up this mornin'” I even make my own songs up on occasion. I like the heavier blues too. I was really sad when Gary Moore passed.
When I die I want a bunch of people to sing “walk her along, carry her along, carry her to her burying ground” like a spiritual.
I am only 29, white, and an atheist. I've never been to one of those shacks in my life, and am unlikely to go. My dad is exactly the same and got into the blues when he was my age.
Somebody once said they thought I’d got autistic tendencies and I am now paranoid. Any ideas?? I want a test but I don't think it would make much difference. Anyway, IIN??
