I love it. The more violent it is, the more likely I am to want to be out in it. One of the best things I've ever seen was lightning hit a lamp post about twenty yards in front of me.

yeah i love going outside and watching a lightning storm. its a bit scary when lightning strikes 100m away from where you are but its pretty exhilarating.

I am too! But my husband is the EXACT opposite. He'll stand outside through hellacious rain just to watch it.

LOL! I do that too! My mom freaks out though if it's lightening. She thinks I'll get electrocuted. I stand outside anyway!

You shouldn't be scared. Lightening strikes the tallest object around. And thunder is just the noise the lightening strike makes.

Until a few years ago I was VERY frightened of lightning. Well, I didn't fear electric shocks, but we lived on a farm with no one around and I always feared that our house might burn down due to lightning.

Now I go to college and live in a large town and somehow enjoy lightning. But everytime when I'm home for a weekend this fear is back^^

I love lightening and thunder. Where I live we hardly get any of it. But when we do my nose is pressed against the window trying to see everything.

It's been happening for millions of years. Pretty sure nothing new will be happening. Although it is amazing how nature can create something so powerful.
Try watching it sometime from a window. The more you face it, the more you'll conquer that fear.

It amazes me that the total energy released by the recent earthquake in Japan (and its aftershocks) comes to the equivalent of six million atomic bombs.

Six million! Kind of puts humans in their place, doesn't it?
