Is it normal that i'm terrified of these things?

Well, you know animatronics. They're like those dancing robots at Chuck E Cheese or those robot elves in the mall at Christmas time. They're supposekd to be those moving robots that look 'real'. And I am so terrified of them, I cried when my aunt tried to take me into Chuck E. Cheese so we could visit our cousin at work. And I'm going to be a senior in high school next year. Is this normal?

Robots are creepy, except for ASIMO by Honda.

    Yes it is normal.
Part of the problem is that these robots look so artificial in their movements. The other, and you mentioned Chuck E. Cheese by name, it used to be Show Biz Pizza when I was a child and I remember seeing a whole band sort of perform. Aside from how fake they moved was all the clicking and clacking of the hard plastic parts and the whirring of servo-motors moving various parts as well. It probably did not help that I had seen the first Terminator movie before then. We have a series of movies to thank for our fears of robots and at least a handful of Twilight Zone episodes, but maybe it is more fundamental than that, like some childrens' fright with clowns.

It's irrational, but common. I'm afraid of wind. Everytime it blows hard enough to rattle trees and make noises, I get scared and start to panic. So I'm going to say yours is more normal :)

Wind? Really? That's unusual. I can relate though. When wind makes weird sounds, it sometimes gives me chills too.

Anyhow, I can see how you could be afraid of animatronics. I was at an amusement park once when I was younger (7 or 8-ish). It was around Halloween and workers there would pass out candy to the kids. I thought this big gorilla thing was animatronic, so I patted its head and said "Thank You." When it answered "You're welcome!" I think I jumped 3 ft in the air! It turned out that it was a person in a costume! @.@

Robots are pretty fucking creepy, like those robots on Terminator? I am 19, and I still scream and cry at the one in Crown.
