Is it normal that i'm still dreaming about my highschool sweetheart?

We dated for 3 years throughout high school, and have been broken up for over a year. I've been dating another guy for about a year. I love my current boyfriend, but I still find myself having dreams about my old love. They'll range from sex dreams to friendship dreams to him telling me he wants to be back together. Last night, I had a dream that everyone I encountered was him. In it, he said "I feel like I have my best friend back." It made me very depressed today.

    You said you've been broken up for over a year, but dating your current boyfriend for about a year. Maybe you didn't give yourself enough time to heal from the last relationship?

    High school was not easier or more fun! it was hell for many people. I think she has not met anyone that made her feel as comfortable AND that she is as attracted to as her boyfriend from the past.

      OK I agree this is not the case for everyone, back then I myself wasn't completely happy either, but now that I look back on those days there was so much freedom and so little to worry about. I often wish I could experience those days all over again knowing what I know now.. It would be epic.

        No, I agree! And I think you're right. It was very cliche. Lots of football games, experimenting, getting in trouble, listening to Tom Petty all the time in his car. I sure miss it

          people always say that your time at university is the best time of your life but IMO when considering the pressure to perform, the money issues, and the consequences of failure actually negatively affect this stage of your life too much compared to high school.

    very normal especially considering that it's a high school sweetheart you are longing back for. I bet it is also part of the fact that in those days stuff was just easier and generally more fun, could it be you are just missing those high-school times (with the boyfriend) in general?

    It is normal! Sometimes when we move on from a relationship, we're not really moved on although going through the motions of life. If you can, call him and check-up with him to see if anything new is going on in his life. If nothing more than friendship comes from it...then so be it, that's what you two were made to be in the end!

    I still think of my highschool sweetheart, I really should have married her! I stupidly broke up from her!!
    Call the guy up, and find out if its worth trying for again. Personally I say yes.
