Is it normal that i'm so thin and i wanna eat but i can't?

I'm female, i'm so thin, i weigh around 100 lbs and im 5 ft 8 inch tall; i'm concious I'm so freaking thin and i think gaining a little bit of weight would make me look prettier, but then, i'm usually not hungry, and i force myself to eat but i feel like every bite is such an effort and sometimes i see it so difficult that it makes me vomit, but i still want to eat it because i don't wanna look too thin, but then again, i'm just not hungry

You might have a gastro-intestinal disorder or some other eating disorder. You really should see a doctor.

No, this is not normal. You are suffering from an eating disorder. If you talk to a doctor about this, he can help you find a way to eat more and gain weight.

Low appetite is common among many people. Myself, I don't eat a lot, and it's not because I don't want to eat. It's just because I forget, or lose my appetite for some reason, or don't receive the typical bodily signs of hunger. If I force myself through those periods, nausea/indigestion/sluggishness occurs.

Sometimes it's just a trait of evolution. Some people have a mutation in their genetics that lowers their appetite. After a while, the stomach shrinks accordingly, and just a little food can make one nauseous.

That aside, I do think you should see a doctor. Just for the fact that you don't have appetite. He can prescribe something to help you gain your appetite back, and you won't have so many weight problems. Your energy is somewhat diminished, yes? And you sleep a lot? Sometimes, it's an indicator of depression----so yes, please go see a doctor. Before you lose more weight.

Try eating richer foods. Usually, weight is not how much you eat, but what you eat.

My brother had something like that. Also wanted to put on weight, but got nauseous after just a few bites. The cause was anxiety, not something physical. What worked for him was going to a psychologist. Therapy took a couple of months, but now he's fine. Hope this helps!

Here's how I gained weight, it could work for you. I was skinny kid, got into body-building in my early 20s, became well built but then my grades in university were dropping.

So I stopped working out then got fat because I was eating double what I used to since I was bodybuilding. Then later worked it off.

I could suggest the same for you. By exercising hard, your body will need more calories, so you'll eat more, then after 3-6 months become sedentary and you'll gain weight.

And ya I think you are too skinny for your height. I like slim girls but they must have some sexy curves. I'm guessing 120-130lbs would be right for you.

Sorry, but that mentality is what harms many, many people that should seek medical treatment.

Maybe there is something wrong that only a doctor could correct, maybe there is nothing wrong, but you are talking about having to force yourself to do something that comes NATURALLY to 99.9% of mammals. Doesn't that seem even a little out of the usual?

        • Yes you're right. But me having to force myself doesn't happen all the time. Usually in the mornings, i just had lunch and i ate pasta and i was hungry and everything was fine. but yeah, i guess you're right

Have you tried eating more high calorie foods? They would help you put on some weight while not filling you up as much.

Also, if you are only trying to eat a lot sometimes, your stomach tends to contract when you don't eat much so when you do eat a lot, it's an effort.

If you are eating a lot and still not gaining weight, though, you may have a metabolic issue. Some of my friends have this. It basically makes it so that instead of burning x amount of calories a day, you would burn x + 400 so you wouldn't gain weight.

I think I'm rambling and I'm not sure if that made sense.

I wouldn't go around eating unhealthy food to gain weight. Sure, you might gain some body fat, but you'll get a buttload of cholesterol and a lack of good nutrients.

Don't solve this problem by eating unhealthy. The only way to treat this is to find the cause why you get nauseous so fast. Don't just treat the symptoms.

Anorexia nervosa may be the cause.

Anorexia Nervosa is where they think that they are fat, even when they are not, and starve themselves. OP knows that she's thin and is trying to gain weight. It actually could be something wrong with her digestive system.
