Is it normal that i'm sick of people telling the kitchen joke?

I'm a 19yo male and i'm sick of dickheads saying "Get back in the kitchen, where you belong" or something like that, especially on Youtube videos. Even when the girl isn't doing anything that bad, about 90% of the commenters will say that joke and the top comments will be that joke. It's getting really old and its not even funny and it never was funny. IIN?

    I agree, it's not funny. Cooking/cleaning isn't just a woman's job, blokes can do it too. Gender stereotypes (and stereotypes in general) are annoying.

    I find the joke quite insulting. Same with the "make me a sandwich" one. If I was at someone's house and they said that to me, I would go to their kitchen and eat all their food.

      My highschool group of friends were made up of guys who constantly made those 'jokes' (though it was make me a pie...I don't know why) and girls who were extreme 'feminists' (ie 'men are stupid women do everything better, etc etc). Add to that, the fact that it was a Christian church group, and it's all very messed up.

      Both sides drove me mad. Both, I find offensive.

      End of irrelevant rant :)

    That joke really annoys me too. Why is it considered funny and clever to make sexist jokes in the 21st century, when jokes about other things that people are born with (like race for example) are still considered taboo?

    It pisses me off too. I like all kinds of jokes but the kitchen thing isn't even funny it just makes who ever said it look like an idiot.
    The funny thing is, the majority of the people who say it online have never actually said it to anyone's face.

    It's a good way of determining who isn't capable of original thought. Like STFU or GTFO. People who say things like that seem really limited (even if they are not).

    yeah i understand. but the thing is with me, i am a better cook than my husband and i really enjoy cooking so at our house, the woman does the majority of the cooking. most people say that joke because its considered sexist now. but we could debate until the cows come home about sexism and who should do what. they just say it to get a rise, dont let it get to you because they win. they want the reaction. if you ignore them, they will eventually stop.
