Is it normal that i'm scared to ask a good friend out?

I have this friend (a girl) who I've known for 2 years, and I just recently started liking her--a lot (I'm a dude just to clarify).

Like last year if a guy would hit on her or talk to her I would have no problem, but now I'd feel almost jealous.

I don't want to ask her out because I'm scared that she'll be weirded out and avoid me to the point that our friendship is over. Is this normal?

    im the exact way exept i like my guy friend and imma girl. i think he likes me to cuz he sent me a rose an i sent him one back he always calls me gorgeous and beatiful and sweet so its hard not to fall for tht so obviously i fell for him.

    i would make sure that ur almost positive tht shes into u b4 u make a move. cuz if u ask her out and she ses no then itll just be awkward

    Yeah, check if she's interested in you that way. Ask her if she ever entertained the thought of u being more than just friends. If she has great, if not- i'm sure she'll still want to continue as good friends. In my opinion, u have nothing to loose!

    i actually agree with gurll. You should be sure if she likes you or not. Does she talk to you about other guys? Is she acting like you're any of her other friends? or does she treat you more "special",where as she wants to just hang out alone with you? But just know that if she doesn't think of you that way, but you still keep on likin' her, then it'll hurt you when she moves on. It'll be awkward if you tell her your feelings, but she'll only want to be your friend. Either way, you can't help how you feel, so maybe you should give it a try. Just be a little more flirty, and see if she likes it, or finds it uncomfortable.
