Is it normal that i'm moving to hawaii to stalk my ex-girlfriend?

Eight years ago I broke up with my girlfriend. I've been stalking her on facebook ever since - i don't harrass her or anything, I just try and find out what she's up to. Recently I found she got married and moved to Hawaii, and I've decided up sticks and follow her. Is this a bad idea?

Well, Hawaii sounds really cool but stocking an ex-girlfriend who just got married sound very uncool.

At least he's a Facebook stalker not one of those super creepy guys who put bug their ex's house and kills their new boyfriends.

Didn't you break up with her 8 (I REPEAT 8) years ago??? If you don't harass her or even talk to her and she now lives in Hawaii wats the point? What's gonna change? You'll be doing the same thing in a different place

I had an X who stalked me, one time he pulled over and snatched me off my bike, that was 3 months after i broke up with him, then two years later i get all these random creepy email from him that i ignore. he was saying he was going to kill my husband and shit. then a few months after that, he invented a fake person on facebook and was trying to add me tofind out info or something

In a role reversed way, there are echoes here of that movie 'My Best Friend's Wedding', where a woman get's obsessed by a male friend just because she hears he's getting married and she travels to where he is to break up the wedding. Not that they'd dated, but it still gives an interesting illustration of how sudden and unexpected unattainability fuels desire. I recommend you watch and learn.

I would agree that following someone on FB isn't really stalking, though, as it's all public access information...unless you've taken to befriending her friends to find out extra, in which case, you've crossed the line. Otherwise, don't label yourself a stalker or you're liable to really become one.

LMFAO!!!! No this is not normal.... first of all... YOU broke up with HER! Secondly, you have no intentions on being with her at all, you just are fascinated by what you know you can't have. thirdly is your life really that boring where you have to pick up and move to hawaii... because your ex got married.... fourthly, what are you expecting to occur? I mean really? SHE IS MARRIED! LMFAO!

Yes it's a bad idea. No it's not normal. Do you guys even talk? Or do you only follow her on facebook? Because 8 years is a long time to be broken up and not be over someone & still doing the 'stalking on FB' thing. Why on earth would you move to Hawaii specifically for her if she's started a family with someone else? If you aren't even friends in real life (stalking on FB DOES NOT count) then it's a little creepy to say the least...

I agree that you need help. Obsession is a sign of more serious mental problems. If you want to move, try moving on with your life and leave her alone.

It sounds like she has moved on so maybe you should too. Book yourself a hotel at an exciting place other than Hawaii and maybe find a nice girl to start a new relationship with.

Instead of advising him to find another girl, maybe he should join a monastery....yikes.
