Is it normal that i'm looking forward to comet ison?

It's coming.

There's a comet, virgin to our solar system, that's projected to pass within a million miles of our sun in November.

Astronomers have no idea what to expect. It could disintegrate before anything happens, or it could display a tail that crosses half of the night sky, be as bright as the full moon, and visible in daylight.

Am I alone in looking forward to this? It could be the astronomical sighting of a lifetime. Millennia worth of myths and legends have been spurred by comet sightings less than this could be.

I can't wait to see the show! Well, if there's going to be a show, at least. I've heard many predictions that it could be as bright as a full moon in late November, which means it would be visible during the day.

If it were red, I'd think we were living in Westeros. :)

There is proof that "comet" ISON is actually artificial in nature. It is not a "comet" by any means.

  • Quite a few astronomers are cautious about expecting too much. There's a good probability it might disintigrate before putting on a good show...but I hope not. It could be the experience of a lifetime.
