Is it normal that i'm holding my goal in life off for now?

I'm 19 and I would like to get a job someday. However, I have a 2-yr-old dog and I refuse to start working until she passes away. I don't want to get a job until she's dead because I don't want to leave her alone, I don't want to make someone else watch her, I don't want to give her up just so I can obtain my goal in life, and I believe that having a dog is a 24/7 committment just like having a child is. My mom helps me with my dog and I help her with the house (I'm on SSI and I pay all of it for rent as well as my brother). Is it normal?

You are being extremely unrealistic and irrational. It sounds like you are subconsciously avoiding something and you are using ours our dog's lifespan as a way to further prevent you from facing that something.

Time waits for nobody, and your reasoning is very irrational.

I'm not sure you are aware of how long a dog lives. You know, I'm a bum as well, but your excuse is unheard of.

    Not normal.
This is coming from someone who fantasizes about cannibalism.

You must really love your dog.

As long as you don't blame the dog for when you fail.

Completely unrealistic. Something tells me you have psychiatric problems.

...Couldn't you just get a dog-sitter? Or a second dog to keep that one company?
Because he/she could live for anther 10 years and that is a ridiculously long time to not work.
    (And a dog isn't a baby)
