Is it normal that i'm giving up with music?

I still play in my band, I'm the songwriter. During the last months I' ve been thinking about quitting, not only the band, but the music in general.
I've recorded some albums, the band could be quite big, but it requires so much effort and a bunch of guys going the same way, and trust me, that is hard. Recently, the guitar player has payed and album for another singer..it was disappointing for me..i put so much effort to lead this project, and the money is a big problem for bands..and he spent more than 5k on that girl. It seems that is an steep road to go through,im kinda giving up. I know i could have made it, and maybe still can, but im not motivated anymore. I feel sad, and a coward too. is it normal to feel this way?

I'm pretty much in the same boat. I had a band for about three years and we had really good chemistry. We built a decent following of people who really liked our music and I know we could've gone further, but we split over creative differences. It was a very disappointing experience. Most people I try to work with are either very flakey or just plain weird, and it's very frustrating to where I'd like to quit. I hardly practice anymore on my own. I just try to remind myself that I know I can make it in this world without the music business, and it's better to have a good group of reliable friends than to be a big shot who got a bunch of lucky breaks and is all high and mighty with his/her own wikipedia entry. 99% of show biz these days is all about being a phony anyways.

you can't give up music. literally, in the last few months i bet one million dollars on you astleast thinking of a tune in your head. also i know how you feel man, i play ten instruments, i've been in 5 different bands thanks to my trumpet, bass clarinet and more for ochestra in high school. i played in a jazz band for guitar( i rock), a rock band(for guitar, lead voals, again...i rock!!!), and another blues band for drums....and classical bass guitar for a symphony part in highschool but anyway.....i know who you feel, it hardly ever sticks....and it gets tiresome but never.....Never.....NEVER QUIT ON MUSIC!!!
