Is it normal that i'm disgusted by gelatine

I'm not a vegetarian, but I've always found it disgusting that some desserts and candy are made with gelatin, i.e. boiled-up and jellified animal skins and bones. It's just that I don't like the idea of dead animal parts in delicious things like New York cheese cake and mango mousse, to name some examples. When these products are not clearly marked with a "v" I have to read through the list of ingredients and get annoyed when I find it and have to put it back on the shelf. Is it normal?

I agree, it's gross when you think about it. The same thing goes with rennet. Thankfully, there are vegetarian/vegan substitutes.

...but yes I also consider the thought of gelatin rather nauseating ;D

      Rennet, from animal stomachs.

You'd be surprised what animal bits are in your food. I've known lacto vegetarians who thought cheese was safe because it only contains milk. Yeah right.

Most Americans and Canadians don't realise that the things they buy in shops contain insect protein. And most Europeans don't realise that it's starting to happen here too. It's actually quite healthy and nothing to worry about, but I think people should know what they are eating.

There's no gelatine in mango mousse... What're you eating?

It's gross if you think about what's in it but it tastes good so...Kinda like hot dogs, who knows EXACTLY what parts are in there, but they are good once in a while so chill and just don't obsess over what's in it.
