Is it normal that i'm constantly regretting what i say?

Every time I say something, it seems like I regret it later. I always seem to get a new perspective on the matter, which makes my previous opinion look closed-minded or racist or otherwise discriminatory, even when it's over something as simple as my favorite foods. It makes me feel evil whenever I look back at a past version of myself, and I can never know what I really stand for. Is it normal?

Of course, as you mature / age / grow your attitudes to practically everything will change. So if someone calls you out saying, "That's not what you said last week" just say you've changed your mind since then.

Never be afraid to say you don't have an opinion either way or that you haven't thought about the topic. You can always go back to that person weeks later and tell them your view once you have considered it.

This is a frequent problem as teens feel they have to always have an opinion, and say something .... anything! As you mature you'll learn that you can't have an opinion on everything / everyone. So better to say nothing.

If you're regretting what you're saying, you're saying the wrong things. That's bad, and not normal. You should think about what you sa.

    • I do think about what I say. But then I get someone else's point of view, and everything seems different.
