Is it normal that i'm ashamed to live in a condo/apartment?

Is it normal that I'm ashamed to live in a condo/apartment? I live in a decent sized condo and although I don't want to be, I'm always embarrassed to invite friends over. None of my friends live in condos/apartments. It makes me feel like they're going to judge me because my family doesn't have a big house. Is this normal? Does anyone else feel this way? I'm sure some people here will think this is really stupid but it's real to me.

On a side note, we own our condo. We payed it off entirely already.

Are your friends really that judgemental?

If they are why be friends with them?

I dream of living in a condo, I am sick of yard work.

Nothing to be ashamed off. Condos are more convenient.

I'm assuming you're really young and you still feel embarrassed over crap like this. It really isn't a big deal that you live in a condo if your friends or anyone judges or laugh at you then they are just immature little shits. We are not the same some wear shorts some wear trousers, some live in houses and some like yourself live in condos but what's important (not to be lame or cheesy) is that you have a roof over your head. Never feel ashamed about where you come from and never apologise either.

If they look down on you, they're morons. The way the housing market has been lately, I wouldn't blame someone for preferring a condo or apartment.

If you're soo ashamed then move out on your own and get a house. Your parents probably busted their ass to pay it off which is a lot better than having a fucked up mortgage or losing your home.

You should be more thankful and if your friends don't like it tell them to fuck off..

Agreed. It is normal to ALWAYS want something YOU believe is better. If you're not old enough to be on your own...who the fuck cares? If you are, then that's what you're actually ashamed of.

  • I love apartment living and I've never felt ashamed of it.

Be proud of your home, no matter where it is.

Well it beats living in temporary accommodation or your car.

Sorry OP I had to put things into prospective.
