Is it normal that i'm am disgusted by today's parents?

1. Most of them let their kids watch the news. A child shouldn't watch the news until they're 14 and even then you shouldn't let them watch the disturbing parts.

2. Nobody I know pre-screens their kid's books! What if there's something disturbing in there?

3. Almost every 15 year old has a cell phone.

4. Fourteen year olds use the Internet! What if they go on a chatroom? Or go on YouTube and see something that might give them night mares???

5. I saw a child who looked 13 on a bicycle the other day. THERE WAS NO PARENT WITH HIM!!!

6. They let their kids associate with whoever! I made that mistake though... My son got in with some rough people who listened to "music" like Eminem and he tried to kill me!

7. The Hunger Games was popular! And it was for 13 YEAR OLD BABIES!!! With all that VIOLENCE!!! I didn't like it, I mean it reminded me of all that suffering people go through in real life! And I don't want my 13-year-old daughter to know about all that disturbing stuff! She still believes in fairies!

I heard once that some kids aged 18 went AWAY from the family to study at some institution in a city other than they grew up in. Some of them even had an alcoholic beverage and there was one particularly disturbing case where a student GOT A REGULAR BOYFRIEND!

    Shameful!

Yeah, I was. I don't do it often here because people sometimes don't get it. But the temptation was too great. :)

This sounds pretty stupid. I don't even know where to begin.

I will agree that with all of the modern conveniences around, many parents have gotten lazy. I knew it when 10 years ago, the one time I went to church, parents would pick up their children and try to make them sit still and behave. Now, as I go to church, they just give them IPads to serve their attention. Don't bother trying to teach your kids to sit still and behave. It's not a skill that they will ever need in any other environment.

Some of what you are saying sounds ridiculous. How do YOU know what another parent's kids can and can not handle? How OLD are you? I am only 20 and when I was a kid, my friends and I always played outside unsupervised. Unfortunately, today's world is different but a 13 year old not being able to handle themselves might be considered to be special ed.

15 year olds having cell phones is your complaint? 15 year olds are very active these days. What with honor societies, soccer practice and the decreasing rate of households with home phones as well as the increasing danger of generally leaving your house, having a cell phone at 15 for just about any 15 year old that has a life outside of going to school is a NECESSITY. This is 2012. You betta recognize.

To be honest, ma'am, kids eventually become people. And some people are stupid. If your standard of parenting skills is solely based on what said kids do, then obviously YOUR parenting skills suck. You can't protect your kids forever, maybe I am wrong, but my assumption regarding the purposes of parenting involves the job that you take on in TEACHING THOSE KIDS TO BE RESPONSIBLE AND FUNCTIONING ADULTS.

No matter what you say or do, your children will eventually develop free will and the best you can do is teach them what they should and shouldn't do with it in a manner that will both benefit them and not cause harm to society. Your complaints are childish and ill informed. You can't possibly know what is good for everyone else's children when you seem to state quite plainly that you hardly know what is good for your own.

Look up the crime rates. It's much safer to leave your house now than it was in the 80s.

This made me laugh so hard :'D you are obviously not up to speed on society, grandpa. THESE THINGS ARE HERE. you can't just hide children away from them. it's practically impossible. and every parent has their way of parenting their child. respect the fact they aren't fucking up their child for all eternity.

You gotta shut up and cool your little fits.
    1) I watched the news at aged 4+ although i didnt understand much then, it opened my eyes to world of "truth" and took me out of the world of lies most parents put their children in to "keep them sa-afe" It made me a better, stronger person who isn't coddled by their pathetic excuse for an overprotective parent.

2)I never read books, i hated them. The flying fox is all i read or something and goosebumps? Who cares what books a child reads, ever read goosebumps? It helps create imagination and character.

3)Here, almost every 9 year old has a cell phone. Whats wrong with that? they can always talk to their best friend and call you when they are in trouble (something an overprotective e-jut like you should have thought of)

    4) So, most 12-13 year olds take a little gander a porn once in a while. Never hurts anyone.

5)I was riding a bike around a rough neighbourhood on my own since 6. Nothing bad happened to me, some guy asked me to buy some sweets, I shouted at the top of my voice and my uncle drove round the corner at 80mph got out the car and beat him nearly into a coma. That was hilarious. But its cool, encounters like that strengthen the soul and make you aware of the world.

6)Eminems a little faggot. When I was 12 i was listening to Tupac, Biggie, Snoop Dogg, Bone Thugz. It doesnt mean they are in a "rough" crowd, you stereotypical jerk? I doubt your son would try to kill you unless hes a retard. Even then, i wouldnt blame him, with a parent like you, you will ruin his life.

7)The hunger games? LOL. A kid hits someone in the face with a brick like 10 times and didnt bleed? Its gore free, and whatever the age rating is, goes.

Your overprotective, just be cautious, and protective, plain protective. Or your kid will hate you and become a pussy.

Wow, it sounds like you might be going a little far. Maybe ypu should loosen up on your fears allowing your kids some freedom. If you dont allow them to grow up in todays society, they are going to have trouble being accepted by their peers.

If you are serious and not a troll (which I highly doubt) prepare for all hell to break loose once your daughter is old enough to realise she can think for herself. Because once she realises how much you sheltered her, shit's gonna go down. Trust me. I was her when I turned 18. ;P

I disagree with every one of your statements. I think it's a bit much if a four year old has their own phone but 15 years old how is that an issue? Also riding a bike unsupervised? Really!? No offense but you can't fret too much over your kids if you want them to survive in the real world. Again just my opinion.

The world is actually safer today than it was 20 or 50 years ago. And I think it's kinda sad how even people my age say such ignorant curmudgeonly stuff about 'people these days' that every generation prior has said.

    1. Most of kids are not even interested in news because it seems boring but watching news can help educating your kid.

    2. You should know what book is that and make sure if there's nothing disturbing in there if it bothers you tha much

    3. So if your daughter went out with her friends and something happend you want her to call police with brick or what?

    4. You can always use parent lock and there is nothing wrong with chatting as long as it's only friendly one and the person doesn't want to meet or something.

    5. OMG TEHRE IS NO PARENT WITH CHILD ON BIKE CALL THE COPS. No sirously I've been biking alone since I was like 9.

    6. You should know at least something about your kids friends but let them have fun at least. By the way if he/she doesn't like the music you like that doesn't mean it's something bad. I've been metalhead since 11 and noone ever complained

    7. 13 years old are not babies. And it wasn't made for them it's movie for anyone and it's not even disturbing.

If you're not just trolling and you're actually parent your kids are gonna have rough life because they will never be independent.
