Is it normal that i'm always tired when i wake up?

It doesn't matter how long I sleep or whether or not I use an alarm clock, I'm always groggy and tired when I wake up. I don't understand how people say they can't fall back asleep after they wake up. I have no problem with that. On weekends, this often causes me to accidentally sleep 12+ hours and miss half the day. :/

I used to think this was normal, but lately I've been hearing that you're supposed to feel "refreshed" when you wake up in the morning.

Also, I don't have sleep apnea and I am not overweight (although I am not skinny).

I also use to be tired after waking up even after a good night’s sleep, when i realising that this was not normal for me I went to the Dr. as it turns out I had a blood deficiency.

Took some iron vitamins and now I jump out of bed.

Although this could apparently also be caused by stress or depression.

As many said already I've got the same problem here.I've realized that it might not be normal when I noticed that 5-6 years ago I was getting really black at summer and suddenly I turn out to be really pale and feeling really tired. To be honest in my situation it could be blood problems which I am not aknowledged of since I didn't have blood exams for a long time.I don't think that I am out of viatamins cause I eat fruits. And the last factor could be sub-concious depression. That's because I went through a lot but I try not to let them bother me so the are going to my sub-consious.
If you don't have any psychological problems you should go to a Dr. and check your blood and your vitamines rate.
As about coffee...sometimes it wakes me up but some others it makes me want to sleep even more.

Try sleeping for exactly 8 hours. No more, no less.
Eat an apple, and don't drink/eat anything sugary or caffeinated.
    Works like a charm :)

I would say vitamin deficiency, and maybe look into getting a more comfortable bed?

I feel the same way. I wasn't always that way but it's been getting worse and I always have a sore throat. I'd go to the doctor but I don't have insurance and I barely get 10 hours a week at work.

    Consider seeing a sleep specialist.

It could be a number of things - such as difficulty breathing while asleep, the position you sleep in, and whether or not you wake up during the correct part of your sleep cycle

or if you want, there are also alarm clocks out there that are suppose to monitor your sleep cycle and wake you up during the lightest part of your cycle so that you aren't as tired when you get up

I feel the same way. I wish we could sleep for as long as we wanted to each day.
