Is it normal that i'm a 52 year old man with a crush on a 17 year old girl?

I'm a 52 year old single man. There's this 17 year old girl I know. I have a small crush on her. Is that normal? I'm sure it's one sided. I am never going to ask her out or try anything, and I'm never going to tell her or anyone else. I'm just wondering if it's normal for a 52 year old man to have a crush on a 17 year old girl.

Being sexually attracted to anyone of physical sexual maturity is normal.

It's the lack of respect for their emotional immaturity that would be abnormal, but you've said here that you aren't planning to act on it so... No dramas as far as I can see.

You are old enough to be her dad.

And her grandpops! The crush is normal, though. I mean, I have crushes on people all ages - I crush on their personalities mostly - whatever gender. But mine are in no way sexual and I haven't had a sexual crush in a long time. If that's the case OP, I say normal.

Otherwise, normal too, but you know the drill...

I don't get it - are you saying you have a crush on people who you aren't sexually attracted to? Would that still count as a crush?

Sorry if that sounds stupid, I just always thought that a crush meant you fancied that person, IE found them sexually attractive, as well as liking their personality.

Yes, I *am* saying that! I did use the term 'crush' broadly. I'm speaking of platonic crushes. This quora answer explains it further:

"A platonic crush is when someone likes somebody but doesn't have romantic feelings for that person. ... A platonic crush can also be called a friend crush or a squish. It's like a crush but instead of wanting to be in a romantic relationship with them, you want to be their friend!"

Oh ok... You see, I'd just think of that as liking a person, I don't think it counts as a crush. But each to their own!

Me neither, but truth is, Rose, I don't even miss it. I've already done so much that doing any of it just seems pointless and irrelevant. Also, more time consuming than I'm willing to spend on. It's weird to feel like that, though. But that's it. Guess you're there too!

Yep, I'm with you on that. In a lot of ways I'm happy to not get butterflies.
