Is it normal that i'm 19 and never have had a proper girlfriend?

At 19 I haven’t ever had a proper girlfriend. Over the past few years I have had two ‘flings’ and since starting university a couple of one night stands, so I’m not inexperienced or a virgin but I’ve never had a proper, long term and committed relationship before. My life isn’t preoccupied by this issue, many of my friends are single even if they’ve been in relationships before but I’m becoming slightly concerned that I’m “old” never to have had a proper girlfriend. I’m not the most confident guy out there and I struggle in simply walking up to females in a bar or pub and ‘chatting them up’ as I do with the prospect of telling someone I like them and actually asking them out, so in that respect my character doesn’t really help me. I suppose I’m asking whether or not my situation is normal for a nineteen-year-old male. Should I be concerned about my lack of experience in developing then maintaining relationships or is it common enough, and one which will resolve itself in whatever ways over the next few years as things fall into place?

    I'm a 21 year old girl and I have never had a proper boyfriend. I think it's normal.

    Two flings and a couple of one-night stands by 19 is better going than most guys that age. Relationship-wise, ya its pretty common.
