Is it normal that i'm 20 and considering making imaginary friends?

I know that it's usually small children who have imaginary friends. Then again, I have a slight mental disability and I'm not quite as mature as most 20 year olds. Maybe it's an excuse????? Lol. Anyway, I did use to have them because I was lonely AND bored. They really seemed real to me. I had an imaginary friend called Natasha when I was 12 but then poor Natasha was soon forgotten. I had another one called Christy between then and when I got my iPod touch. After that I felt I had all the entertainment I needed. Now... I've got friends but I either rarely see them or they rarely talk to me on Facebook. Lol. Is it normal to want to make up some friends I can see whenever I want and tell anything I want? Please be honest.

Fuck the haters. I'm 23 and I still have an imaginary friend. He's a talking ferret named Philotheus, it's great fun when I'm bored.

It is not normal to have imaginary friends at 20 BUT it is normal to not have any (real life) friends. I'm a year older than you and my situation is the whole same as yours my friends are very few and we don't hang out much & I hate Facebook so... How about joining a website like twitter what's great about it is you can follow awesome people you don't know if you feel lonely you can chat with them and when you get on with them if they live in your area you can do a meet and greet. Find new friends it won't hurt but no imaginary friends please that shit is wack especially at 20. :)

I'm 22 and in a similar situation as you (including having mental health problems, and friends who you don't get to see very often) and I am proud to say that I still have imaginary friends.

They're characters from movies and TV shows that I enjoy daydreaming about. They're like a second family to me, even though the members change every once in awhile... xD

Still, I do get lonely at times, which is why I enjoy going to my volunteer job.

I believe that there's nothing wrong with having imaginary friends, but if you start to get really lonely then you should seek out ways to meet real people.

Why at 20 years old would you want to make imaginary friends, when you can make real friends?

Not normal, but kind of cool. Keep it a secret!

You should've outgrown it by now. In this day and age, you can other lonely people like yourself online and make friends.
